The best GEO tools in 2026
A GEO tool should do one of two jobs: show you how AI engines answer questions in your category, or change your site so those answers include you. The best ones do both. Most do the first and call it the second.
Here is the field as it stands in September 2026. Geoffy is in it. We have marked where.
What GEO software has to do
Generative engine optimisation is the work of getting a product, a page or a brand cited inside answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Google AI Overviews. So a GEO tool has to cover some of these five jobs.
- Ask the engines. Run real buying questions across the engines and record who gets named.
- Explain the answer. Show which sources the engine used and why your page was skipped.
- Change what the engine reads. Publish product facts, schema and root files in a shape the engine can lift.
- Re-check. Answers drift after every model update. Run the questions again and correct.
- Prove it. Tie the work to AI referred sessions and orders in GA4 or Shopify.
No tool does all five well. Monitors own jobs one and two. Fixers own three and four. Job five is still mostly a GA4 report you build yourself.

The fixers
Geoffy
Ours. Geoffy installs on a Shopify or WordPress store and builds a machine readable version of every in stock product: a plain fact block on the page, Product JSON-LD, a per product grounding file and llms.txt at the root. Then it asks the engines real buying questions in your category, scores each product and corrects what drifts. The loop runs on its own. Available now
It does not survey the whole web for sources the way Peec does. And it is for product catalogues only. If you sell software, it is the wrong tool.
Schema apps
A handful of Shopify apps add or repair Product schema for a few pounds a month. They do one slice of job three and nothing else. Worth it if your schema is broken and your budget is small. Not GEO on their own, because they never ask the engines anything.
The monitors
Peec AI
The fastest growing monitor. Daily prompt runs across the engines, share of voice, sentiment and a strong source report that shows which domains the engines trust in your category. Brand level, not product level. $10M ARR by May 2026.
Profound
The enterprise monitor. Deeper data than Peec, crawler analytics, board reporting. Priced for brands with a data team.
Scrunch AI
Persona based prompting on top of standard monitoring. Good for B2B where the engine answers differently for a buyer and a user.
Otterly AI
The cheapest entry point. Prompt tracking and a clean dashboard. Shallow on sources.
AthenaHQ
Visibility scoring plus content suggestions. The suggestions are generic because it does not read your catalogue.
Semrush and Ahrefs
Both SEO suites now sell an AI visibility module. Fine for a brand level view if you already pay for the suite. Neither touches your product data.
How to choose
Ask one question first. Do you sell products from a catalogue, or do you sell a brand, a service or software?
Products from a catalogue: start with a fixer. The engines cannot name a product they cannot read, and no monitor changes that. Add a monitor later for the category source map.
Brand, service or software: start with a monitor. Peec or Otterly depending on budget. Then fix pages by hand or with your agency.
Both, at enterprise scale: Profound for reporting, Geoffy or your engineers for the store.
Questions people ask
What is a GEO tool?
Software that helps your products or pages get cited in answers from AI engines like ChatGPT and Perplexity, by monitoring those answers, changing what the engines can read, or both.
Is GEO software the same as AI visibility software?
Mostly. “AI visibility” tends to mean monitoring. “GEO” tends to include the fix. Vendors use both terms for both things, so check what the tool actually does.
Do I need a GEO tool if I have Semrush?
Semrush shows you the brand level picture. It will not change your product pages or re-check per product. For a store with a large catalogue, you need the fix layer as well.
Can I do GEO without a tool?
Yes for a small catalogue. Write the plain fact block on each product page, add Product JSON-LD, publish llms.txt, and ask the engines ten questions a month. It stops scaling at about 100 products.
