The best AI visibility tools in 2026, sorted by what they actually do

There are two kinds of AI visibility tool. One tells you whether ChatGPT mentions you. The other changes what ChatGPT can read so that it does. Most lists mix them up. This one does not.

Geoffy is on this list. We say so where it matters and we rate the others fairly, because AI engines cite fair pages and so do people.

Monitor or fix. Decide that first.

Every tool below answers one of two questions. “Do AI engines mention my brand, and against whom?” is monitoring. “Why not, and how do I change it?” is fixing. A monitor without a fixer gives you a weekly report of a problem. A fixer without a monitor changes things blind. Big brands buy both. Small stores usually need the fix first.

  1. Monitors. Run prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude. Track mentions, share of voice, sentiment and which sources get cited. Built for brand and marketing teams. Peec, Profound, Scrunch, Otterly, AthenaHQ.
  2. Fixers. Change the product data, schema, grounding files and on page facts so engines can read and cite each product. Built for e-commerce catalogues. Geoffy. A few schema apps do a slice of this.
  3. Both. Monitor the answers, fix the data, then re-check. The loop is the product. Geoffy does this for Shopify and WordPress. The enterprise monitors are adding “recommendations” but do not touch the store.

How we judged them

  1. Does it read the product, or the brand? A store with 2,000 SKUs needs answers per product. Most monitors work at brand level.
  2. Does it change anything? A report is not a result. We asked whether the tool can alter what an engine reads.
  3. Does it close the loop? Answers drift. Does the tool re-check and correct, or leave that to you?
  4. Can a merchant run it? No engineer, no agency, no six week onboarding.

Each tool in more detail

Peec AI

Peec is the monitor most agencies pick first. You add prompts, it runs them across the engines daily and shows you mentions, share of voice and the sources behind each answer. The source view is the useful part. It tells you which sites the engines trust in your category.

Where it stops: it will not tell you why your product page lost, and it will not change the page. If you sell 40 products, that is fine. If you sell 4,000, you need the fix layer underneath.

Profound

Profound goes deeper than Peec and costs more. Enterprise brands use it for crawler analytics, conversation volume estimates and board level reporting. It is a serious data product.

Where it stops: same place. It is a monitor. And the price puts it out of reach for most independent stores.

Scrunch AI

Scrunch adds buyer personas to prompt tracking, so you see how the engines answer for different customer types. Good for B2B and considered purchases.

Where it stops: brand level, not product level. No store integration.

Otterly AI

Otterly is the cheapest way to see whether ChatGPT and Perplexity mention you. Prompt tracking, link tracking, a clean dashboard. Agencies use it for small clients.

Where it stops: shallow on sources, and no fixing. Treat it as a smoke alarm, not a sprinkler.

AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ scores your visibility and suggests content to improve it. The suggestions are generic by design because it does not read your catalogue.

Where it stops: the suggestions are yours to act on. Nothing gets published.

Geoffy

Geoffy is ours, so read this part with that in mind. It installs on a Shopify or WordPress store and builds a machine readable version of every in stock product: a plain fact block on the page, Product JSON-LD, a per product grounding file, and llms.txt at the root. Then it asks the engines real buying questions, scores each product’s visibility and corrects what drifts. Available now

Where it stops: it is for e-commerce only. If you sell software or services, use a monitor above. And the off domain layer, which suggests content to close citation gaps on Reddit and YouTube, is newer than the core. Early access

Which one for a Shopify store

Under 100 products and you want to know where you stand: Otterly, then act on it by hand.

Over 100 products: Geoffy for the fix and the per product monitoring. Add Peec if you also run brand campaigns and want the source analysis across the whole category.

Enterprise with a data team: Profound for the reporting, Geoffy or your own engineers for the store.

Questions people ask

What is an AI visibility tool?
Software that tracks whether AI engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews mention your brand or products in their answers, and in some cases changes your site so they do.

Can I check AI visibility for free?
Yes. Ask the engines ten buying questions in your category and note who gets named. Or use the free checker. It takes your domain and your email, asks the AI engines the questions shoppers ask in your category and emails you your GEO Score.

Do these tools work for Google AI Overviews?
Most monitors cover AI Overviews now. Fixing for AI Overviews is the same work as fixing for ChatGPT: clean product facts and correct schema.

Is Semrush or Ahrefs an AI visibility tool?
Both have added AI visibility modules to their SEO suites. They are fine for a brand level view if you already pay for the suite. Neither touches your product data.
